SOL MELIÁ, PRIMERA HOTELERA DEL MUNDO EN REPUTACIÓN CORPORATIVA La lista, publicada por la revista Forbes, sitúa a la hotelera española en el puesto 48 entre de las 200 principales empresas del mundo por su reputación corporativa. La cadena hotelera es la segunda empresa turística del mundo y la cuarta mejor empresa española en esta área. Palma de Mallorca, 24 de noviembre de 2006.- La reconocida revista americana Forbes (www.forbes.com <http://www.forbes.com>) publica en su última edición la lista de las empresas más reconocidas por su reputación corporativa. En ella aparece Sol Meliá como la mejor hotelera y la segunda empresa del sector turístico internacional detrás de Lufthansa. El ranking, elaborado por el Reputation Insitutute (www.reputationinstitute.com <http://www.reputationinstitute.com>), selecciona a las 200 empresas del mundo con mayor puntuación en esta valoración. La empresa mallorquina ocupa el cuarto puesto nacional. Esta lista es el resultado de un trabajo de investigación que ha supuesto 30.000 encuestas en todo el mundo para evaluar los conceptos que recoge la reputación corporativa: 1) calidad de los productos y servicios; 2) la innovación; 3) el entorno de trabajo; 4) el gobierno corporativo; 5) la responsabilidad social corporativa; 6) el liderazgo y 7) los resultados financieros de la compañía. Ante la publicación de la lista, el Presidente de Sol Meliá, Gabriel Escarrer ha manifestado sentirse muy satisfecho “porque desde que se fundara la compañía hace cincuenta años hemos puesto mucho empeño en desarrollar políticas sociales y medioambientales que logren un futuro sostenible”. La inclusión de la acción social en la estrategia de la compañía y los proyectos de ahorro energético respaldan su afirmación. El Reputation Institute reconoce que la evaluación de estos parámetros está influida por factores tales como la experiencia que tengan los diferentes stakeholders con la compañía; el alineamiento de la estrategia en relación a los empleados y su comunicación corporativa además de cómo y qué medios de comunicación dan cobertura a la empresa. “Este nuevo reconocimiento nos impulsa a reforzar aún los esfuerzos que venimos realizando por mejorar nuestras marcas, la calidad de nuestro servicio y nuestro compromiso con el entorno” - afirmó Escarrer en el mismo día en que la compañía ha firmado un acuerdo con la Comunidad de Madrid para apoyar la reinserción laboral de las mujeres víctima de la violencia de género. El pasado mes de octubre Sol Melia firmó su adhesión a la Fundación Balear contra la Violencia de Género. The hotel chain is the second-ranked travel and tourism company and the fourth-ranked Spanish company on the list. Palma de Mallorca, 24 November 2006.- The prestigious American magazine Forbes (www.forbes.com <http://www.forbes.com>) has published the latest edition of its list of the world’s leading companies for corporate reputation. Sol Meliá figures on the list as the leading hotel company and the second highest ranked travel and tourism company behind Lufthansa. The ranking is prepared by the Reputation Institute (www.reputationinstitute.com <http://www.reputationinstitute.com>) and selects the 200 global companies with the highest scores for reputation. The Majorcan company is the fourth highest ranked Spanish company overall. The list is the result of research involving 30,000 surveys carried out worldwide to evaluate the most important aspects of corporate reputation: 1) product and service quality; 2) innovation; 3) work environment; 4) corporate governance; 5) corporate social responsibility; 6) leadership; and 7) financial performance. After the publication of the list, the Chairman of Sol Meliá, Gabriel Escarrer declared that he was extremely satisfied by the results “because ever since the company was founded fifty years ago we have always made great efforts to develop social and environmental policies that would help to create a sustainable future”. The importance of community involvement in company strategy and the measures taken to save energy are just two of the projects that form part of those efforts. The Reputation Institute also notes that the evaluation of these factors is influenced by other aspects such as the experience of stakeholders in the company; the alignment of strategy with regard to employees and corporate communications, as well as the parts of the media that cover the company and the nature of their coverage. “This makes us even more determined to focus on improving our brands, our service quality along and our commitment to the environment” - stated Escarrer on the same day that the company signed an agreement with the local government in Madrid to help women victims of domestic violence return to work.
